Upgrading Data Services – Is It Worth The Switch

If you are a business owner, you undoubtedly understand the need to keep up with the times. No matter what type of business you run, you are probably quite familiar by now with the task of exchanging data everyday. In fact, data exchange is imminent.

Data is presented in many types, from voice data such as phone calls, to services such as faxing, E-Mail and Internet usage. You probably have technology you’ve used for a long time through which these services are used, but when does it become necessary to upgrade your current services to new ones?

Stop for a moment to consider how much you’re paying each month for the data services you use. If you use a standard phone service, you probably pay the standard fees each month along with the cost of long-distance calls. You may also have a toll free line and surely you own a fax machine. What about your E-Mail and Internet? When you stop to add up all these costs, how much are you actually paying each month to use these data services?

Now think about the money you could save if you integrated your services. If your business is relatively small, you might not save very much, but if you run a large corporation, the amount might be staggering. You must also take into consideration the cost of equipment upgrades. How much new technology will you need to purchase and how much will it cost? When you factor in all of this information, you might also ask yourself whether or not it will be easy to train your employees on the new equipment and how much training will be necessary. So, do you make the switch from the old data services to the new? If the cost of the new services saves you money, or the benefits of integrating your means of data transmission are greater than the cost, then you may want to consider the switch.
