A T1 carries 192,000 bps. This is 60 times more data than a residential modem. It is extremely more reliable than an analog modem. A T1 can handle several users at the same time depending on what’s being done. Example: A T1 can be shared by all users very easily for general internet browsing. If users are downloading large data files, music, or video files a larger circuit would be needed. A T1 can handle quite a few users even when combining voice and data lines. When you combine voice and data the product would be considered a Dynamic Product.
A voice T1 will support up to 23 voice lines. The line is a 24 channel circuit providing an internet connection straight from the broadband provider backbone, making a voice T1 a very reliable and stable connection.
Fractional T1 Line – Is a line with a connection speed of 256 kbps to 768 kbps, and can be dedicated from 5 to 20 users.
Fractional T1: Fractional T1 is a private, dedicated leased line that comes from your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and goes directly to your office. Since these lines are leased and not shared with other users they provide a guaranteed bandwidth. Fractional T1 lines are less expensive than at full T1 (1.544Mbps). The most common fractional T1 speeds are 256 Kbps.
Integrated T1 Line- Is a line with a connection speed of 128 kbps to 1.5 mbps , and can be dedicated from 5 to 30 users plus voice lines.
Integrated T1: An integrated T1 allows businesses to run several applications over the same line. This allows you to consolidate all of your voice (local and long-distance) and data lines (high-speed internet) This integration of local, long distance, and Internet allows increased efficiencies to end users and greater flexibility to carriers. T1 contains 24 individual channels, each capable of carrying voice ,data or both. The individual channels may be split into voice lines or data lines.
Burstable T1: A Burstable T1 service is the ideal solution for customers requiring very high bandwidth in bursts. The full T1 bandwidth is available all the time.
Full DS1/T1 Connection- Is a line with a connection speed of 1.5 mbps, and can be dedicated from 20 to 50 users. T1 lines can also be used for point-to-point access.
Point-to-Point T1: A Point to Point T1 is a great solution for businesses that require audio and video conferencing over the internet, or for companies that host web and email servers. Point-to-Point is the best solution for companies that transfer sensitive data or private files. This is a guaranteed dedicated connection making it very safe and secure.
Multiple T1 Lines - are lines with a connection speed of 1.5 to 6 mbps. These are dedicated lines for 50+ users and/or high bandwidth applications. Multiple T1 lines can be used for point-to-point access.
PRI
Primary Rate Interface carries multiple voice and data transmissions between the network and the user. PRI is the standard for connections to offices. PRI has varying number of channels depending on the country. In the US, the PRI consist of 23 B Channels (23 - 64Kbps digital channels), and 1 D Channel (1 - 64Kbps signaling channel) using a T1 line (1.544Mbps). Each B channel carries data, voice and other services. The D channel carries the control and signaling information. PRI channels are typically used by medium to large enterprises with digital PBXs to provide digital access to the Public Switched Telephone Network.
